October, 2000 to February, 2002: Computer Technical Specialist, Computer Access Training program with the Dept. of Veteran Affairs Southeastern Blind Rehab Center, Birmingham, AL.

November, 1993 to October, 2000: Supervisor, Computer Access Training program with the Dept. of Veteran Affairs Southeastern Blind Rehab Center, Birmingham, AL. Due to VA re-organization, my position title was changed to Computer Technical Specialist.

Responsibilities: Maintain the Computer Access Training, CAT, program at the SBRC by ordering computer hardware and software, setup of the computer hardware and software, and training veterans to use speech, large print, Braille, and voice recognition software to function independently on their computers. I am also the network manager for the SBRC to assure that blind VA employees can access the VA Windows NT network system for their documentation.

April, 1988 to November, 1993: Training Associate, Rehabilitation Research and Training Center on Blindness and low Vision, Mississippi State University, Starkville, MS.

Responsibilities: Provided training in the areas of job analysis and placement with an emphasis on speech, large print, and braille computer access technology to rehabilitation professionals from around the world, the United States and territories. This information was taken back to the professionals local area to identify, analyze, and modify jobs for people with visual disabilities. I was also responsible for assisting in grant writing to the Rehabilitation Services Administration and the Office of Special Education Programs, and many of these grants were funded.

July, 1984 to April, 1988: Vocational Rehabilitation Counselor, State of Florida, Division of Blind Service, Jacksonville, FL.

Responsibilities: Provide comprehensive vocational rehabilitation service to people with visual disabilities. Duties included reviewing applications, developing Individualized Written Rehabilitation Plans, job analysis, job modification, and placement services.

July, 1986: Outstanding Vocational Rehabilitation Counselor for Region 2, Dept. of Education, State of Florida, Division of Blind Service Award for Excellence.

August, 1993: Outstanding Service Award, Rehabilitation Research and Training Center, Mississippi State University, Starkville, MS.

Special training programs:

April, 1990: Provided speech, large print, and braille computer access technology training to rehabilitation professionals from the Department of Rehabilitation Services, Pago Pago, American Samoa.

May, 1991: Provided speech, large print, and braille computer access technology training to rehabilitation professionals from the Canadian National Institute for the Blind, Toronto, Canada.

April, 1995: Provided speech, large print, and braille computer access technology training to blind students at the University de Para, Belem, Brazil.

October, 1998: Presented the results of an evaluation of three speech programs used with Internet Explorer 4.01 to participants of the Closing the Gap International Conference on Technology for Special Education and Rehabilitation, Minneapolis, MN.
